Well Baby Clinic

Well Baby Clinics are health maintenance visits for children under two years of age. Regular appointments are scheduled for ages two weeks, two months, four months, six months, nine months, twelve months, fifteen months, eighteen months, twenty-four months and thirty-six months. While Well Baby Clinics are recommended for all children to ensure that healthy development is on track, it is particularly important for at-risk children or babies including premature, low-birth weight babies or those with genetic risk from siblings with known illnesses or disorders.

What to expect during a Well Baby Clinic?

Your paediatrician will physically examine your child and review key milestones appropriate to his or her chronological age. The clinic is also a good opportunity for parents to bring up concerns about their child's development, or any other childhood ailments or conditions.

Immunisation or vaccination is also typically given during Well Baby checks. Prior appointments must be made for vaccination or immunisation.

What to bring to the Well Baby Clinic?

Remember to bring your child's Health Booklet which provides a helpful record on key milestones and immunisation schedule.

Parents are key to the partnership with healthcare providers to ensure healthy development of their child. If you have any concerns about your child’s developmental progress, it is crucial to take action, and to arrange for a routine developmental screening at a Well Baby Clinic.
