Examples of assessments we conduct:
- IQ testing/cognitive assessment:
Cognitive assessments are designed to measure a child’s general thinking, reasoning abilities, intellectual functioning and determine learning capabilities. Intelligence testing assesses various domains of a child’s cognitive capacity such as working memory, visual-spatial, fluid reasoning, processing speed and verbal intelligence and comprehension. Through understanding a child’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, parents are then better able to make informed decisions about the appropriate school, learning or vocational programme that best suits their child.
- School readiness assessment
School readiness assessments are typically conducted for a child of around 5-6 years of age and is useful in guiding parents on school placement decisions. In addition to ascertaining cognitive ability, the assessment also evaluates a child’s everyday living skills for independence and classroom learning. As some children with learning or behavioural needs would benefit from a more supported schooling environment or a customised curriculum provided by government-funded special education (SPED) schools, the results of this assessment would be helpful in assisting parents on the decision of their child’s schooling.
